Mine has to be "three picture deal". The piano intro is beautiful and that catchy rhythm reminds you kind of a Josie kind of thing. Walter's voice sounds fantastic and Chris Potter's sax solo in the beginning, it's truly amazing. I remember I ordered this when I was on my second tour of Iraq in 2008 and I was so excited to receive Circus Money in the mail when it arrived in Baghdad, I brought an amplifier to my motor pool and played the shit out of that album every single day for the last two months of my deployment.
I always listened to Three picture deal in my headphones before I went to bed, and listening to this lyrics that were haunting yet beautiful...
I remember when Walter passed my ex-wife was in Germany at the time let me know that he passed before I even knew.... I still to this day when I listen to this album remember those times in Iraq and how I made it through that time with his, Donald's and Steely Dan's music. The combination of the three made it so much easier to make it through each day. Well I wish I had the opportunity to tell Walter that to his face, but I'm grateful I got to see him that one time in Canada, I got to talk to Walt Weiskopf, that amazing saxophone player, and I always asked how Don and Walter were doing and how it is working with such brilliant minds.... Well I know I'm kind of rambling now but, the circus money album, was the soundtrack to a difficult time in my life but it made it so much easier.
Rip Walter... Thank you for making the wonderful music that you did. Well aside from the rambling what is your favorite Walter song...?
Yes.
