Thank you for this Matt, what a clever marriage of two equally memorable melodies with such opposing lyrical content.. It wouldn't surprise me if Michael Omartian had been carrying these songs around in his head since 1974.. You know the old phrase, Once you Hear this, You can never Unhear it ! This train of thought has plagued songwriters of all generations, keeping them awake at night wondering if the great music that they wrote had, in fact, already been written.. That is not the case with this song, but the great challenge here was to bring the melodies in his head together, on record.. It's a good thing for us that he did, and I think that Walter and Donald would be really delighted to have one of their most groove centered tracks interwoven with a beautiful Christmas Carol.. This could easily become the most preferred version of this song, and live forever as a Christmas Classic ! You have to admit, it is catchy ! Thanks again Matt, and a Very Happy Christmas to You !
