With the recent passing of Jimmy Buffett, I found out Circus Money was released on Jimmy's Mailboat Records, so did Walter and Jimmy have a friendship (because Jimmy used to visit Maui) It's also known Irving Azoff managed Steely Dan and Jimmy, and they were both on ABC Records around the same time.
Hi Danny -- there was no ongoing relationship between WB and JB that I was aware of....although of course they may well have met each other at some point and with some unknown level of subsequent contact or degrees of seperation....it's a big biz, with cross-contacts now going back 50-some years. [Larry Klein may have known JB, I don't know]. In any case Walter and Larry were obviously pleased that Jimmy's label could offer a nice non-corporate home for CM
Got an email asking if the red Epiphone in the pic linked from the Becker bio is the actual guitar mentioned in the oft-told 'origin story' of W and D's meeting at Bard.
It is.
I mean, you could almost guess it; just look at his face!
