Taking Stock of the online record.

In the 19th(!) year since launching walterbecker.com and the first issue of the Walter Becker Newsletter, and in the 7th year of WBMedia, it’s a good time to take stock of the footprints Walter, his Estate, and his fans are leaving in the online sand — and in the historical record. 

… Because biographies may be cobbled, articles written, interviews given, YT/TT Hot Takes dropped — but whatever mess these “content items” might make of the actual reality of Walter Becker’s time in this world, there will always be an extraordinary body of first-person and real-time material available — at least, available — to countervail the smudges of time and the compressions and de-pixilations of invested or disinterested voices. We can be proud of what we're leaving behind. On the record.

At Madison Square Garden last week, the Marxist Woke Mob — aka judges of the Westminster Dog Show — perpetrated a heinous, inexcusable injustice on all Goodest Boys and Bestest Girls everywhere.

It’s one thing to ignore our dictum on the Downloads page (and in the FAQ) that any shared WBM material must be accompanied by its copyright information. Dear Friends, Enemies, Bots, and Whatever Else Is Still Lurking on the Algorithmic Scrapheap Formerly Known as Twitter:

It is with a measured and appropriate degree of regret, but mostly a vast and abiding sense of relief, that we here at Walter Becker Media must inform you that we are officially vacating the premises of X [better known as, and much better when it was] Twitter, formerly a kind-of-fun limited character dive bar before a K-addled overgrown incel, pockets bulging with government contract moolah, decided on a strip-to-the-studs reno in the beloved Move-Fast-Break-Shit school of contemporary design.

And who are we mere citizens to say that the resulting crypto-fascist Chuck E. Cheese — named after the most cliched, pseudo-scientific letter of the alphabet [sorry Q]— is not the very height of contemporary fashion and taste? Not we, O my people. We live to serve.
