In all modesty, there are so many good ideas en reflections from Mr. D-Mod (what's your name ? x), Mr. Favia and Mr. Kerns, that should have yielded something. The musical and textual legacy of Walter Becker simply must not be lost (here we think that everything is possible in te U.S.) Are you familiar with subsidies for cultural projects ? Is there support from Walter's immediate circle or family (perhaps a rude question) European cities will be welcomed. Good luck with everything !

Rebuidling that dismantled studio on Maui is -as you describe it- an almost impossible task indeed. But perhaps there are other solutions, such as continuous power-point presentations with musical accompaniment, a photo exhibition and/or the options from my previous post. I suspect -certainly in the US- that there is enough talent to realize such a thing, right ?

Hi Lary, I live in Europe and have never seen Mr. Beckers studio in Maui (only know it from images) But there may be other solutions to bring Walter's dream space and his postmodern musical legacy to the attention (and that of Steely Dan) This could be in his native New York with the help of books, videos, films, libraries, music schools (Bard College) and exhibitions in museums. A few years ago, Walter Becker sold his Hyperbolic Sound studio in Hawaii and moved back to his native New York. Circus Money was written and recorded there, as well as at Klein's place in Los Angeles (source: SOS sound on sound) But I also read the bones of the buildings in Maui still stand. It's getting a console and a mind-boggling amount of equipment in there... I can hardly believe that expensive equipment isn't taken along to his other home (probably in New York ?) Or do I see it all wrong ?

THIN :-)" and also a call to co-browsers to post pictures. The more images the better is my idea, but apparently there are also limiting conditions. Thank you for your answer in any case.

I now understand that there are images from W.B. available (a lot on hard drives) but "the giveaway is thin", also from co-browsers. How did that happen ? I can only guess why ... (p.s. I live in Europe and have never met Mr. Becker)

@Moderator: D-Mod At that time (October 2018) I saw the opening of the Walter Becker highway via the internet and that was by no means a sham. Who are the so called 'real experts', I wonder.....nobody believes that ? And the 'real guardians 'of the WB legacy, are they an informal group of friends or a collection of intimates... p.s. My youngest son is a lawyer, you can allways call him for free advice (lol)

Mr. Becker reminds me of the time that I was a student at the art academy. But the impression he made (on many of us) in the decades that follow is still there. Not only through his music but also through his lyrics. As an icon of his age, a biography or even a film about his life would not look out of place. But maybe he didn't want that….

I was wondering.....is there a real biography about Mr. Walter Becker ? (and I don't mean books like "Major Dudes", "Reelin' in the years", etc.) Thank you in advance for your answer.

@paul What's the connection with this big selfportrait of Vincent van Gogh ? Does Vincent symbolizes the eternal 'suffering artist' ? If so, that's an outdated romantic view of the 19th century on art. He wasn't an addict but very ill in his head and at that time there was no medication against manic depression. Not all artists have a fragile human psyche, luckily.

Are 'spitbacks' not controlled after (so called) use in methadone clinics ? I don't like the idea of romanticize 'junkie girls' because an addiction is terrible enough. And mr. Becker is the first one to be aware of that.
