So happy this was finally released. I'm very happy Linda finally got her due. There was a time in the early 2010s where this was simply a whisper, but I remember coming across her son on Facebook and talking to him about the album, pointing him in the direction of Brian Sweet and now it's here.
This is such a great early seventies singer songwriter album in the vein of Carole King, Joni Mitchell and Laura Nyro and Linda's readings on Walter and Donald's oblique lyrics are really great. The exclusive track, Turn My Friend Away is sooooo good. I've wanted to hear it for so long and it did not disapoint.
And we cannot forget the extra rendition of Walter's Jones. She really gives this one a very tender and heartfelt take.
All in all, great album, and one more unreleased Don/Walt related artifact that's come to light :D
I agree...it's so great that this one is finally out there in the public. I'm always psyched to hear a Becker/Fagen composition I haven't already assimilated, but I was equally impressed with her versions of the Furry Years tracks I already know and love. Roaring of the Lamb always gets me...you just have to love a song that start with "Quick some redhots cried the handsome fullback," rhymes it with bivouac, and gets more cryptic from there.
