I was! :-) lots fun ... hmmmm, I can't be sure, memory being what it is, but could have been I took that pic. If it's in the pictures for the 07 tour on sdarchive.com, then it is mine. I've seen another pic of the same stage scene, taken from the other wing. Don't know who took that one
[Edit -- ah ha! there it is, in the pics from the road link at http://sdarchive.com/tour07.html. We gave it the caption "Filly Soul" ar ar ar

@Moderator: D-Mod I appreciate the unbridled enthusiasm for this post.
@Matthew Kerns 🤡 get back to work, Matt...it's a competitive crowd in here and none of us will get anything done today if we don't call a truce.
[EDIT yeah yeah yeah...both you and I and probably several more have whole list of 'em, and we're itching' to post 'em. I for one will take the high road and stop the bit now, rather than saddle this board with a useless distraction. Over and OUT! ]
Not the 1980's I know, but I wanted to post the pic of SD with the 'horse' on stage in 2007, Aintree, Liverpool. What a night that was ! Anyone else there ?
I now understand that there are images from W.B. available (a lot on hard drives) but "the giveaway is thin", also from co-browsers. How did that happen ? I can only guess why ... (p.s. I live in Europe and have never met Mr. Becker)
At the W.B. Media Forum you say in your post from July 3, 2018 "I have a lot (pictures) on hard drives somewhere. The giveaway is ... THIN :-)" and also a call to co-browsers to post pictures. The more images the better is my idea, but apparently there are also limiting conditions. Thank you for your answer in any case.
t.vd.kuilen - hi I think I got it now. TBD was correct; I meant that the giveaway that it was likely an 80s photo would show a THIN Walter :-). As for co-browsers...what can I say, Becker fans can be anti-social sometimes (just kidding just kidding), so aside from the few RLJones pics posted, I guess they don't have much on their own computer. Have you tried Google image search that then allows you to pick decades? Finally, perhaps I will do an "early Walter" slideshow but I admit it would be low-priority for a while. The other thing to keep in mind is that earlier photos are scattered throughout the site posts (giveaway is THIN :-)) and slideshows that accompany posts of demos. Thanks for your interest...
I think its great to see these behind the scenes pictures/vids of Walter and I don't think it does any harm at all. I've always felt Steely Dan were a real and down to earth band and it was all about the music and less about image etc.
It all adds to the charm of this forum to my mind :-)
Thanks for reminding me... I looked through the pictures the other day at work, but didn't have a chance to watch the videos, so I went back and did that just now. I love getting these glimpses into Walter's personality. It's so easy for us fans to not really look at our favorite musicians as real people, you know?
@Dan Belcher Me too -- and a perfect example of how I often had to hustle around on the fly to "document" whatever spiel he decided to go on. Which he knew I would. I mean, that one where he pops out of the short arched doorway in the Old Church....we can see him beginning to step out, then withdraw. There is no way he could have seen me on the other side of that wall with the camera. Yet after he decided to withdraw that first step, he came out "camera-ready", apparently confident I'd be there ready to film something. Something similar happening in the "skipping" clip from one of the posts. Traveling with him was always a lot of fun...and for better or worse, a lot of my focus when traveling was on what Water was doing while traveling. What can I say. Over-enmeshed I guess :-) But was worth it at the time, and so worth it now, for all the wonderful and funny Walter I have on the hard drive, ready to make me laugh again as I so often did while filming.
[EDIT:#2: that middle slideshow is getting glitchy. It will sometimes quit or stop before showing all the pics to the end. Seems to maybe happen when hitting the arrow too rapidly to move forward perhaps? Don't forget the thumbnails at the top of the main (white) page are a good way to get somewhere fast. If the thing quits early, just use the thumbnails to get back to where you were, and go on from there. Sorry about these glitches-- looking into them]
@Moderator: D-Mod I just checked out slideshow #2 (#1 didn't work) and THANK YOU for those 'home movie' excerpts. To those of us who only know him through his music, they expand our understanding of Walter Becker the person. I think he'd like knowing they got a little more love headed his way. Which is a good thing.
I didn't see where to 'like' the slideshow or I would have. But I have a bad habit of rendering the obvious invisible.
speaking of pictures -- has anybody taken a look at the new slideshows? (#2 and 3 on the slideshow index; the first one has been online for a while). I had some doubts about posting them: home movies are home movies--- even if they're Walter Becker's :-) .
Mr. Becker reminds me of the time that I was a student at the art academy. But the impression he made (on many of us) in the decades that follow is still there. Not only through his music but also through his lyrics. As an icon of his age, a biography or even a film about his life would not look out of place. But maybe he didn't want that….
I was wondering.....is there a real biography about Mr. Walter Becker ? (and I don't mean books like "Major Dudes", "Reelin' in the years", etc.) Thank you in advance for your answer.
Love it when a lurker goes audible — I think that's the biggest compliment all of us could get. Hope you’re signed up for the Newsletter, too; we like to offer subscribers a little extra somptin when we can. Our next opportunity will be announced soon!
Looking forward to hearing from you. And don’t be discouraged if your fellow board members have to be goosed or cajoled or threatened into engaging; most of them are more than a little tired of us — but not thankfully, of Walters cuts!
Finally — open the pod bay doors, Hal.
Original, right? You probably get that several times a day.
